I was fortunate enough to be taught by an industry mobile DJ who worked for a local station as their on site guy. Coming from that background and learning proper technique, it is painful to go to weddings and watch these DJs. One time, the DJ was so drunk and passed out; I took over his post and got the party going again. Choose wisely, kids!

The whole "play something off my phone" comment is ridiculous. If they wanted to hear the song that badly, they could just plug in some headphones. Besides, if the DJ actually wanted to play the song off of the phone, He would have to find a way to have the phones music show up in his DJ software.

Right on. If you do a part 3, make sure it includes a mother of the bride who threatens to stop payment if you don't play her song that the bride hates ("I paid for this wedding, so I should get what I want"). My other fav is when someone tells you derisively to play "something good" when the dance floor is packed.

Simultaneously funny and painful at the same time. As a veteran DJ with 28 yrs of experience, I too, have seen the best and the worst of the industry. Some years ago, I finished a reception and got called into the one in the room across the hall to take over for a DJ that got kicked out because he was so horribly bad. My heart goes out to couples like that who end up enduring bottom-of-the-barrel jocks that destroy weddings. Hopefully, your humorous take on all of this will inspire brides and grooms to learn more and do their due diligence when shopping.
